Blood vessel disorder treatmentAt Children’s of Alabama, children with disorders of the cerebrovascular system are cared for by a multidisciplinary team of specialists in neurology, neurosurgery, hematology, and physical medicine and rehabilitation.  A state of the art bi-planar angiography suite was incorporated into the new Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children and is utilized to provide state of the art care to children in Alabama with neuro-vascular diseases-all within a strictly Pediatric environment.   In addition to the medical management of stroke, our neurosurgery team has expertise in the treatment of arteriovenous malformations, cavernomas, aneurysms and Moyamoya disease.   We are also the only pediatric center in Alabama that performs Gamma Knife radiosurgery for the treatment of arteriovenous malformations.
